Students from Stroud schools have been completing their Young Gloucestershire backed National Citizen Service (ncsyes.com) by social action fundraising for Gloucestershire Counselling services (gloscounselling.org.uk). I bumped into them in Stroud.
NCS takes place all over the country, often in conjunction with local youth groups and schemes. The programme has four stages: Adventure – Discovery – Social Action -Celebration
The students told me how they spent time selecting their local charity and spoke positively about the whole experience. The leaders were clearly proud to hear they had inspired the students to want to be leaders too.
I am looking forward to hearing about the rest of the fundraising activities and following NCS student progress in Stroud.
NB. I received permission from the leaders to get a photograph and the students are smart. They know how to deal with politicians. Buying cakes gets a picture!
