Not all weekends start watching people waiting to start surfing down a river!

The local Rotary Club treated enthusiasts to bacon sandwiches and coffee to keep the chill off while the natural phenomena that is the Severn Bore arrived. We saw a 4* bore after a 5* bore had arrived the day before. It is a surge wave that can be seen in the estuary of the river. I understand the Severn Bore is one of the biggest in the world, with the shape of the Severn estuary ensuring the water is funnelled into a narrow channel as the tide rises, forming the large wave. My husband and I had a great morning. Cllr Stephen Davies and Cllr Haydn Jones also attended.

It looks like the next 4* Bore that you can see during the day is in September, although it is worth keeping your eye on the website: https://www.severn-bore.co.uk/2019_times.html
