The campaign picked up traction each week and in July 2019, there was a lot going on.
Leadership contender, Boris Johnson MP, used his weekly newspaper article to pledge to boost FE funding & apprenticeships 👏👏👏
The amazing Rt Hon Robert Halfon MP, Education Select Committee chair, has just backed my campaign – all in the week that he has launched an enquiry into lifelong learning. 🙏👏👏👏 (link & see what he said about local provision below).
I will keep up the fight. It is an easy job to talk to people about SGS Stroud & the work our students do. I believe more local funding will make a difference to our communities 🙏
TES article – Local provision:
Mr Halfon stressed the importance of local provision, and Ms Cain agreed. She said the WEA welcomed the Augar proposal for a national education network, and that local delivery was crucial.
“People need something nearby and so they’re encouraged to get involved with their peers through short courses that are around,” she said.
