Harvey and I had a very positive meeting with Stroud Town Council and brilliant campaigner, Christian Drewitt of Accessible Gloucestershire.
I have been finding out more information about why the bid for funding to get improved disabled access did not succeed earlier this year. As a result, we were all able to work together yesterday to come up with a plan to revive the campaign.
In essence – we refuse to give up! Changes to the station are not only needed for people with disabilities. Parents with pushchairs, elderly people & those carrying luggage need another way across the station. The existing long route around the station is littered with obstacles as shown on Christian’s videos. Improvements at the station are also a catalyst for other works that are going on in the town.
This was a cross party effort & thousands of local people got involved last time. We are hoping to get everybody on board again 🙏 so once we have our ducks in a row 🦆 🦆🦆🦆, the council, Christian or Harvey will be in touch with campaigners to talk about the plan. I am going to keep helping in the background & feel free to contact me if you want to discuss.
